What we’re about
B.P. Koirala, the first elected Prime Minister of Nepal was imprisoned at 1947 and 1948 at Singhadurbar for his involvement in anti-Rana political activities and he was released after 29 days long hunger strike. It was in his initiation and leadership that Nepal got its first democracy in 2007 B. S overthrowing 104 years long antonate of Rana rule in Nepal. Koirala then concentrated on developing Nepali political structure, but his purpose remained unfulfilled due to the political barricade created by late king Tribhuvan, and this obstruction continued even during late King Mahendra’s rule. Even though the election of the constituent assembly was supposed to be held on 2007 B.S. along with the dawn of democracy, it could not take place. However, the King agreed to the election of Parliament instead of constitution assembly election in 2015 B.S.(1959 A.D.). B. P. Koirala emerged as a great hero through this election by winning the 2/3rd seats that his party had won in the Parliament and becoming the first elected Prime Minister of Nepal.
